Frequently Asked Questions
-
Your first session centers on building rapport and creating a safe, trusting space where you can speak openly. We’ll review practice policies, answer any questions, and discuss your expectations and what you anticipate from therapy. I’ll gather relevant background and your current concerns, and together we’ll begin outlining clear, personalized treatment goals and a practical plan for next steps—so you leave with a sense of direction, collaboration, and what to expect going forward.
-
A consultation call lasts 15–20 minutes and is a low-pressure chance to briefly review what you’re looking for in a therapist and the goals you hope to address. We’ll cover practical details like scheduling, session format, and insurance or payment questions, and I’ll answer any concerns you have about the process. The goal is to ensure my approach and availability are a good fit for your needs — if it seems right, we’ll discuss next steps.

I offer telehealth video sessions through SimplePractice that you can join from a phone or computer. Sessions are secure and HIPAA-compliant; you’ll receive a link via email or text before your appointment. Expect the same 50‑minute, confidential format as in-person care—find a private, quiet space, test your connection briefly, and we’ll proceed with collaborative, goal-focused work just as we would in the office.

When you schedule a session, that time is reserved specifically for you. I understand schedules change, so I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Missed appointments or cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to the full session fee. In cases of emergency or acute illness, exceptions may be made. This policy protects the time and space set aside for sessions and for client care.

While I am not a psychiatrist and cannot prescribe psychotropic medications, I can support you in other ways and connect you with trusted providers who offer medication management. If medication may be helpful, I’m happy to discuss your questions, coordinate care, and provide referrals to psychiatrists or psychiatric practitioners upon request.
